The Local Impact For Tomorrow (LIFT) Center’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of Fallon Park Elementary School students and their families.
While plans for a new Fallon Park Elementary School building were being developed, the question arose, “Could more be done to help the health and well-being of students and their families in southeast Roanoke?”
With the input of school leadership, teachers, parents and guardians, a vision formed to create a place where not only health needs of students are addressed, but also family needs—a place where trends are reversed and people can learn to not only survive, but thrive.
With community support, the LIFT Center founding partners, Carilion Clinic, Roanoke City Public Schools, Freedom First Credit Union, and Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation, developed a model for an innovative school-based health and wellness center to serve Fallon Park Elementary students and their families.
The LIFT Center, led by a steering committee of passionate people from each of the founding partners, provides clinical and mental health care, private financial counseling, health education and other crucial supports, services, and enriching classes and community-building events for students and their families in southeast Roanoke.
Additional collaborative partners include A Tree Planted Collective, Blue Ridge Literacy, Region 5 Adult Education.
